Venues Vengeance
Catie Tyler
8th September 1890 London
A woman sits on a cobble stone stairway with a blanket over her head protecting her from the cold, steadily counting money in a small bag. We hear footsteps. Annie removes her coat and blanket, tossing them to the side revealing a low-cut top. She pushes her chest forward in a presenting manner while adjusting her hair. Annie begins swaying ever so slightly. Acting drunk. Without turning her head she half shouts.
Annie:(half-shouting, head still) ‘ello there sir. ‘ow are ye this evening?
The figure, now in sight, stops walking.
Annie turns around and seductively walks toward them; swaying increases.
Annie : Is there something I can help ye with ‘onight?
The figure removes a hat and a tight bun is revealed.
Annie is caught off guard but continues her pursuit.
Annie: Where are ye from, ´aving ye hair so long like that?
The figure quickly pulls a knife from under their coat, skillfully placing it a millimeter away from Annie's throat.
Annie: Oh now. No need to git like that. You can do anything you want to me for a few shillings, don’t ya know?
B: Your dress seems quite tight around your abdomen.
Annie: Well that’s not very polite of you (forced laughter).
B: Why?
Annie: It´s not polite to tell a young lady she look large it–
B: No.
The figure reveals their face.
A woman, around the age of 35, stands before Annie.
Annie is shocked.
B: You are with child, are you not?
Annie turns to run.
The woman grabs Annie, preventing her from running
B: Are you going to be a mother?!
Annie: Y-yes I'm with child.
B: (Calmly) Are you going to be the mother of this child?
Annie: ...No
The woman quickly drags the knife across Annie's throat. Annie lets out an airless scream falling to her knees. Ignoring Annie screaming, the woman reaches toward Annie´s stomach, fixes her eyes on the unborn child. Annie begins to fall forward to the ground, gurgling back blood. The woman catches her and shoves her forward, letting her fall on her back to protect Annie’s stomach. Annie is dead. The woman calmly wipes the bloodied blade off with Annie’s dress.
The woman retrieves Annie´s discarded blanket and gingerly lays it across her stomach.
The End.
