STAINS (#5)

Misunderstood
Neajah Brown

Stained with the pain of the past
Multiple memories he’ll never forget
Like the times he thought his parents would be there forever
Now like fears in the souls of his parents
A stamp on the heart of their ignorant son
Who thought it be smart to take his dad’s car
And get into an accident drunk
Whose violence will spill out like blood,
Like when he lashed out on his mama over money
As she lay on the cold floor for hours
Heart trembling
Carrying the lies in their purple hearts and minds
That lack of oxygen
Because for that first time he wanted to walk to school alone
But caught with the roll of a sweet leaf
Just wanting to fit in
But this time mama and papa finally
Denied that he was theirs
But lo and behold the brains of they
Which by this time have already drowned
Soaked with stains of regret
Not realizing at that moment how he felt or what he wanted
But now it was too late
He left
Now they’re left with the same pain
That he once felt
Not feeling understood
