skin and bone overlapping to create the best kind of jigsaw puzzle. though we looked right through each other somehow. I could barely see you. just outlines. it wasn’t really dark out either. maybe it was because our noses were touching we were so close. the saddest part of the puzzle was the empty places between us because we weren’t sure how to fill them. over time we came to realize these places weren’t hindrances. just air.
